Ellen is a nationally syndicated newspaper columnist for Universal Press Syndicate/Uclick. An award-winning former Baltimore Sun staff reporter, editor and columnist, her stories and columns have appeared in The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, Philadelphia Inquirer, Money, Self, Success, Venture, and Fortune. Based in Washington, she’s also a former staff reporter for the Minneapolis StarTribune and the Montgomery (Alabama) Advertiser.

Ellen’s commentaries have been heard often on “Marketplace,” the American Public Media radio show. She’s appeared on “Good Morning America,” CNBC and other national television and radio shows. She’s a former contributing editor and columnist for Institutional Investor magazine. She was awarded a Knight-Bagehot Fellowship for journalists in business and economics from Columbia University. Ellen is a resident member of the National Press Club. She holds masters’ degrees in journalism and international affairs from Columbia University in New York.
